I love using my Pioneer kit and have found the upgrade journey pretty seamless. Rekordbox is excellent for organising your music and the hardware has a real premium feel to it. I started with a Pioneer DDJ-400 and have recently upgraded to a Pioneer XDJ-RX2. Links to both are below!
Pioneer DDJ-400
My first deck and a brilliant bit of kit to learn on. Plug into a laptop & speakers and away you go. Perfect setup like a much bigger Pioneer DJ layout making the jump to bigger and better kit that much easier. A great place to start!
Pioneer XDJ-RX2
A genuinely amazing controller that can be used with or without a laptop. Plugin a USB stick from Rekordbox and some speakers and you are party-ready. It will do everything you need and more. You can even connect 3rd party sources such as a turntable or Spotify device to the inputs. Brilliant deck and one that you should seriously consider.
Sennheiser HD25
The absolute best headphones for DJ use. Unchanged for decades and as iconic as a Technics 1210. Every part can be replaced like for like and their sound profile is perfect. Not a high end audiophile headphone but you’d never want anything else in the booth!
